Check whether a site's certificate is valid, when it expires and which domains it covers.
This tool sends a request to our checking server. Addresses and files are processed on the spot and never stored.
WHAT IT DOES
About this tool
Check any website's SSL certificate: whether it's valid, its expiry date and days left, the issuer, covered domains, TLS version and key type.
The check runs on our server: we send only the address or file you entered and show the result right away. Nothing is stored.
QUESTIONS
Frequently asked questions
What happens when an SSL certificate expires?
Browsers show a full-screen security warning, and most visitors leave. Online payments, APIs and apps that talk to the site stop working until the certificate is renewed.
Why does a valid certificate still show an error?
The most common reasons: the certificate was issued for a different name (for example, example.com but not www.example.com), or the intermediate certificate is missing on the server.
How often do certificates need renewing?
Free Let's Encrypt certificates last 90 days and renew automatically when set up correctly. Paid certificates are capped at about a year, and the maximum lifetime keeps shrinking over the next few years, so automatic renewal matters more and more.
